WRT 2015 Cali Open - Round of 32

The World Racquetball Tour (WRT) is back in action this weekend, but far south of where they were last weekend, as Cali, Colombia is the site of this weekend’s WRT Cali Open. Jake Bredenbeck will be trying to win back to back tournaments after being successful in his native state of Minnesota last weekend.

Bredenbeck’s win puts him 2nd in the draw with last weekend’s runner up Polo Gutierrez still in the 1st seed position. Alejandro Cardona, David Horn and Anthony Herrera round out the top five.

Play has begun, as the tournament is being run Thursday to Saturday. Thus, everyone is operating on a short week, which should mean that the fitter players are at an advantage. Or perhaps the players who didn’t play last week could have an advantage. The two most prominent players in the draw who weren’t in Minnesota are Sebastian Franco and Andree Parrilla.

Franco may face Bredenbeck, who he’s playing doubles with this weekend, in the quarterfinals, although Franco does have to defeat Jose Daniel Ugalde to get there.

They will be webcasting the quarterfinals beginning Friday morning at 10 AM. The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday night at 6 and 7 PM with the final Saturday afternoon at 1 PM. Find the link at the WRT Facebook page.
