Rhonda Rajsich and Rocky Carson were the big (non-Olympic) winners last weekend. Rajsich won the Great Balls of Fire event in Coral Gables, Florida - a satellite event on the Women's Professional Racquetball Organization (WPRO) tour.
Rajsich defeated Jo Shattuck in the final, 8-11, 11-1, 11-8, 11-7. In the semis, Rajsich beat Vivian Gomez, 11-9, 11-2, 13-11, while Shattuck needed five games to get past T. J. Baumbaugh, winning 12-14, 12-10, 2-11, 11-4, 11-2.
On the other side of the USA, Carson won the San Diego Open, which was a Tier 3 event on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT). Carson defeated Mitch Williams in the final.
In the semi-finals, Carson beat Chris Crowther and Williams got by Shane Vanderson.
It's a sign of the times that these two events were not Tier 1 events, as they have been in past years.
Follow the bouncing ball....
