Gudinas & Bellows into quarters in WPRO San Antonio tournament

For the first time this Women's Professional Racquetball Organization (WPRO) season, Kristen Bellows and Cheryl Gudinas have both reached the quarter finals of a Tier 1 event, as they won their Round of 16 matches Friday at the Battle at the Alamo tournament in San Antonio, Texas.

Bellows had the tougher time of it, as she faced Susana Acosta, who always seems to play long matches regardless of her opponent, and this was another one of those matches. It took 92 points to determine the outcome, as Bellows won in five games, 12-10, 11-13, 5-11, 11-7, 12-10.

That result made Gudinas's four game win against Krystal Csuk,  9-11, 11-2, 11-9, 11-8, seem pedestrian.

The higher seeds prevailed in all the other matches. Top seed Paola Longoria advanced to the quarters with a comfortable win over Grace Hughes, 11-2, 11-3, 11-4. Second seed Rhonda Rajsich also won in three straight games against Keely Franks, 11-4, 11-2, 11-6.
