The top four seeds are all in the semi-finals of women's doubles at the XXV Pan American Championships in Temuco, Chile, and those seeded teams all won in two straight games. Top seed Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas of Mexico defeated Chileans Carla Muñoz and Maria Paz Riquelme, 15-1, 15-5.
The 2nd seeded Canadians had a more difficult time of it, but Christine Richardson and Jennifer Saunders did win in two straight over Venezuelans Mariana Paredes and Mariana Tobon, 15-10, 15-14. The Venezuelans trailed the whole way in game two but then went ahead late at 14-12.
However, the Canadians regained the serve and Richardson, who was playing the right and had been serving hard Zs switched to a half lob Z and that led to three straight points to finish off the match denying the Venezuelans a tie-breaker.
The semi-finals go on Friday with the final on Saturday. The Pan American Racquetball Confederation (PARC) is streaming matches live via their website.
