Waselenchuk wins 2012 Red Swain Shootout

Kane Waselenchuk defeated Alvaro Beltran in three straight games, 11-5, 11-5, 11-1, to win the Red Swain Shootout Saturday night in Davison, Michigan - the third event of the 2012-13 International Racquetball Tour (IRT) season. IRT #1 Waselenchuk didn't lose a game in winning the title and has won every IRT event since March.

Both players came out firing in the match, as they drove serve at almost every opportunity. But Waselenchuk led almost from start to finish. Ironically, the only lead Beltran had in the match came in the game he had the fewest points, as he led 1-0 in game three, but lost it 11-1.

Waselenchuk drove serve to both the left and right sides, while Beltran did so mostly to the right side, which is the backhand side for the left-handed Waselenchuk. Beltran usually hit drive z serves to the right side for second serves.

Afterwards, Beltran said he tried his best, but that Waselenchuk "played incredible" and "served really good, almost perfect."

The next IRT event will be in Cali, Colombia with the World Professional Racquetball Championships November 29 to December 2.
