IRT Florida Spring Break - Preliminary Results

Results from the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Florida Spring Break tournament in Tampa, Florida are in, and in the 'we told you so' department the two matches that went tie-breaker were the two that we'd highlighted in our preview.

Japanese veteran Hiroshi Shimizu and Florida stalwart Mike Harmon went five, and Shimizu came out on top: 5-11, 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3. He'll play IRT #4 Jose Rojas in the Round of 16 this morning.

Also, Sebastian Franco needed five games to defeat left-hander Tom Fuhrmann, 11-5, 6-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-2, and move on to the 16s where he'll face IRT #2 Rocky Carson.

Finally, props to Nolsen Jimenez Garcia, who won three matches on Thursday, each one in three straight games, to advance to the 16s, where IRT #3 Alvaro Beltran awaits him.

The IRT Network will carry the Round of 16 action live over the web beginning on Friday 9 AM EST.
