Two big upsets in the Round of 16 at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Florida Spring Break tournament in Tampa, Florida, as the 6th and 8th seeds were defeated.
Marco Rojas defeated 8th seed Chris Crowther in 11-13, 11-1, 2-11, 11-2, 11-2, and Charlie Pratt got the better of 6th seed Ben Croft, 6-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6. Pratt and Croft played last weekend in the final of the Carl Myers Memorial in Garden City, Kansas with Croft coming out on top, but Pratt might have learned something from that encounter that he was able to use today.
Also, more props to Nolsen Jimenez Garcia, who's a player from Cuba - perhaps the only player from Cuba, as he got a game off of IRT #3 Alvaro Beltran before losing the next three, 11-13, 11-7, 11-9, 11-4. Garcia is no slouch - lightning fast and a winner against Canadian Lee Connell at a tournament in Canada last month.
The IRT Network will have the quarter final action live over the web beginning on Friday 3 PM EST.
