LPRT California Regionals - Round of 32 & 16

Seven of the top 8 seeds have reached the quarterfinals at the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) California Regionals Tournament in Reseda, California, but the exception isn't too surprising as it's former #1 Jackie Paraiso who defeated 8th seed Da'monique Davis in the Round of 32 and then Cheryl Gudinas, another former #1 who was seeded 9th. Paraiso will face LPRT #1 Paola Longoria Saturday, as Longoria won both her first two matches in three straight games against Roxanna Rahling in the 32s and Hailey Miller in the 16s.

The only other upset in the first two round of play was Michelle Key's victory over Sofia Rascon in the 32s, as Key won 11-3, 11-2, 11-9.

But there were four matches that went the distance on Friday, including the Paraiso-Gudinas match, where Paraiso prevailed 11-5, 11-3, 9-11, 3-11, 11-5.

Sixth seed Susana Acosta was a game from being out of the tournament in round one, as Masiel Rivera won the first two games of their match, but the veteran left hander responded by winning the next three to take the match, 7-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-4.

Also, Aubrey Kirch needed five games to get by Janel Tisinger, 11-13, 11-9, 11-3, 9-11, 11-7, and Carla Muñoz came back from two games down to defeated Sheryl Lotts in five games, 7-11, 2-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6.

Quarterfinal matches from Reseda can be viewed live via the LPRT Network from 9 AM PDT on Saturday morning with the semi-finals at 3 and 4 PM PDT.
