Paola Longoria put on a dominating performance to win another Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) tournament, as she beat Maria Jose Vargas, 11-2, 11-1, 11-3, in the final of the Great Balls of Fire Pro-Am in Miami, Florida. Longoria's won all 9 LPRT events this season and every one she's entered since May 2011.
How dominant was Longoria? There were 61 total rallies in the match: 21 in game one, 20 in game two, 20 in game three. Longoria served 15, 14, and 14 times in the games one to three, respectively. Five of Longoria's serves were aces. Vargas only served six times in each game and 18 times total.
Longoria most often hit drive serves, although in the second half of game one she hit off speed Z serves to the left, which was a serve she used to great effect in the New Jersey Open final against Frédérique Lambert. It was equally effective against Vargas.
Longoria also dominated centre court, and hit a few forehand reverse pinch shot winners to the front left corner.
The next LPRT event is next weekend in Reseda, California as the women will be playing in the Southern California Regional Championship. There are 30 players in that event with all the top 10 as well as Kristen Bellows, Jackie Paraiso and Janel Tisinger.
