Weekend Round Up - De La Rosa, Muñoz, Allen & Tristan win

Daniel De La Rosa won the 7th Annual Raising Some Racquet for Kids - a Tier 3 International Racquetball Tour (IRT) event in Cincinnati, Ohio on the weekend. De La Rosa beat Charlie Pratt in the final, 11-5, 12-10, 11-4.

In the semi-finals, De La Rosa beat Brian Simpson, 11-3, 11-3, 11-1, and Pratt defeated John Craig Chisholm, 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-5.

In Fountain Valley, California, Carla Muñoz won the Women’s Open division by beating Gabriela Martinez, 15-11, 8-15, 11-10. In the semi-finals, Muñoz beat Maria Renee Rodriguez, 15-2, 15-7, and Martinez defeated Roxanne Rehling, 15-0, 15-4.

Several states had their championships on the weekend. The most notable winners were Jansen Allen, who took the Texas State Singles Championship by defeating Kenny Green Jr. in the final, 15-3, 15-1, and Agustin Tristan, winner of the New York State Singles Championship defeating Jason Sylvester, 15-6, 15-12, in the final.

Two big events coming up. The USA Racquetball Intercollegiate Championships begin Wednesday in Tempe, Arizona. Then on Saturday the opening ceremonies for the Pan American Championships will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with play beginning on Sunday.
