Kane Waselenchuk won his 10th event of the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) season Sunday as he defeated Rocky Carson in three straight games, 11-8, 11-4, 11-6, in the final of the Party with the Pros tournament in St. Louis, Missouri. In their three meetings since Waselenchuk eked out a 12-10 tie-breaker win against Carson in San Diego last month, Waselenchuk has given up 5.0 points per game to Carson, winning each of the three matches in three straight games.
Game one was close despite Waselenchuk having an early lead at 6-2. Carson came back and tied it a 7-7. But he just didn't have it to finish off a game today, as Waselenchuk closed out game one, 11-8.
In game two, Waselenchuk was again up early at 5-1, and Carson came back but only to 5-3 before Waselenchuk put a string of points together to make it 10-3 and then 10-4.
The story was similar in game three. Waselenchuk led early at 5-1. Carson closed it to 5-3 only to see Waselenchuk push it to 10-4. Carson fought off a couple of match points and got a couple of points back, but then the seemingly inevitable happened as Waselenchuk finished off the game 11-6, winning the match.
The next IRT Tier 1 event will be the Mexico Open in Tijuana April 7-10.
