Dan Lavely won the Men's Open division at the Florida Spring Break Pro-Am tournament, defeating Cesar Castro in the final, 15-13, 15-14. In the semi-finals, Lavely beat Ivan Villegas, 15-10, 15-11, and Castro defeated Travis Aldinger, 15-12, 15-5.
Castro did win Men's open doubles though, as he teamed up with Cesar Castillo and beat Canadians Lee Connell and Josh Keil in the final, 15-10, 15-6.
The women's open division in Tampa featured some good young South American players that resulted in an all Ecuador final, as Cristina Cordova defeated Maria Paz Munoz, 14-15, 15-14, 11-7. In the semis, Cordova defeated Ivonne Carpio, also of Ecuador, and Munoz beat American Sara Noyes, 15-7, 15-3.
